Public Speaking, Presentations and Lectures
Oliver’s story is one of inspiration and encouragement for all. Wendy O'Carroll, his mother, spent 20 years in the charity sector supporting parents and professionals across the UK, and was Chief Executive Officer of Ups and Downs Southwest www.upsanddowns.net for 20 years.
Wendy now operates as an independent SEN consultant and speaker and provides motivational and informative lectures and presentations at events and conferences all over the UK. An accomplished speaker, Wendy provides presentations to large and small groups of professionals involved in education, social care, and healthcare, as well as to groups within the voluntary sector, and of course to large and small groups of parents, the general public, schools and colleges etc. www.wendyocarroll.com
Topics covered include all aspects of Down Syndrome, parenting a child with a disability, how to overcome poor expectations, the critical importance of our society learning to truly value and enjoy difference, and how a positive and enthusiastic attitude can change lives.
Wendy has spoken at Westminster and is an experienced keynote speaker as well as providing 'after dinner' speaking to a variety of groups and organisations. She is renowned for her straight talking and cheery optimistic disposition and her determination to instigate and encourage positive awareness in a way which audiences find memorable and entertaining. Oliver is reluctant to give presentations or speeches himself depending on the venue and event but is always on hand to meet his fans at his annual exhibition in Somerset every November.
